Is the United States in Bible Prophecy?

The United States of America had obviously not been formed when the Bible was authored, so “USA” and “America” are not words you’ll find in the Bible. However, that doesn’t mean that Bible prophecy is missing key points or that the Bible doesn’t have anything to say about the United States of America. It does mean that if there are one or more prophecies about America in the Bible, the prophecy will not clearly name the US.

I have written before about America in the Bible. When I wrote America in the End Times (Part 1 and Part 2) in 2021, I was concerned about the growing division in America. I also referenced Isaiah’s prophecy against Ethiopia (Isaiah 18). At the time I recall thinking of Ethiopia as a county, but believing Isaiah’s prophecy was about America. I have since realized that “Ethiopia” is the English translation for “Cush”, and that Cush refers to the land occupied by the descendants of Cush, which happens to be the continent of Africa. 

So why does this matter? Isaiah’s prophecy is against a nation beyond the borders of Cush, a smooth-skinned nation of whirring wings that would need to travel by boat across the waters. Africa was the land furthest west in the known world of Isaiah’s time. We see that this nation across the sea will be pruned, the unproductive shoots being consumed by birds of the air and wild beasts. Recalling Jesus’s parable about the seeds that did not bear fruit, we understand birds as demons, and if that analogy remains true in Isaiah, the unproductive shoots will be consumed by demons. After this pruning, the nation in the prophecy will bring its tribute to the King of Kings, Who has chosen Zion as His dwelling place. 

You see, there are currently 2 very different Americas: 1) one that struggles to hold onto the vision of our Founding Fathers, who despite their imperfections dedicated this nation to God, and 2) one that embraces the ways of this world and rejects God, seeing everything as a power struggle. I believe this second America is in opposition to the first one, and it’s the second America that is unproductive and will be pruned like the nation described in Isaiah 18. I also believe it likely that this second America fits the description of the harlot who corrupted the world with her sexual immorality (Revelation 19:2).  

So biblically, these verses may be about America. I admit they may not, but I believe they are. And I believe we are heading into a time of pruning, where both the redeemed and wicked will suffer. I believe that God has been speaking to me for over a decade about this, and that it started in the Obama presidency. I further believe that it aligns with David Wilkerson’s 2009 Urgent Message. So let it be confirmed by two or three witnesses.

Is Modern Israel Biblical Israel?

The Meaning of Life
